Later that night…

13 Jan

Look! A poof! Thanks Imbrium for the link to tie it all up. I also finally got around to watching The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy tonight. It was quite fun. Of course I especially liked the knitted bit. The books were always one of those things it seems I should have read. Based on my friends and my interests it seems odd that I somehow missed them. And now it feels too late to go back. I still may someday, but my reading pile is already overwhelming and on an indeterminate hold anyway. I have a book on the Giant Squid from two Christmases ago for goodness’s sake! But the movie was fun and clever and witty and enjoyable and distracting. All good things, though no great things.

Pattern: Loosely based on Bonbon from knitty. (I totally eyeballed the size and ended up folding it again in addition to the seaming.)

Yarn: Baby Bee Pitter Patter from Hobby Lobby in shade Teddy Bear. 100% polyester. 4oz/290 yards. I barely made a dent in the skein.

Needles: Size 8 straights.

Notes: This yarn seemed super soft and fun, but it made my hands really sweaty while working with it, which made it really difficult to knit. And sewing in caused all the fluffy bits to scrunch up together, which made sewing up hard. I haven’t showered with it yet though, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m having retrospective fears of all the fuzzy bits going down the drain after two uses. I think I’m going to have to come up with another use for this yarn. But the concept is great and it went super fast.

Y’know, unlike the turgidness of Tolkein, I think the HHGTTG books (stop after number four, though, trust me) actually are amusing to grown-up types as well. They are genuinely quite funny. No too late! And, also, rather breezy reads… JUST THE THING for you, ahem, current condition. That, and tea. And the cat. I calls that a good day, I does.
And yeah, you can have your old job back any damn time you want. With bells on.

I see a typo, but mostly lots of nice sentiment. I’ll take it, drunk or no. 🙂
