ZOMFG I heart the internets!

24 Aug

OK, my brother made me a mix cd. He likes it when I write back with comments on all the tracks, even when I don’t have anything nice to say. It had a song on it that was pretty darn bad. In fact, my comment was:

"this song is straight crap. wtf? it’s like bad 90s radio crap. like
that band who sang that song about that girl who killed herself and the
band guy felt responible. like nickelback or something. i can’t
remember now. but i remember mocking them big!"

Then it drove me crazy that I couldn’t remember the song. The tune was mocking me and I thought there was a line like "she was only something." I tried searching "she was only" with Nickleback. No luck. On a whim, I searched "song where the girl kills herself and the band feels responsible." The first hit? Yeah, it was The Freshman by the Verve Pipe. Man that song sucked. And I LOVE the internet.

p.s. – mostly the mix rocks.

How funny…The Freshman was one of my fave songs, I knew which one you were talking about immediately!
I’ll have to go back and listen to it now to see if I still like it. I haven’t heard it in years.
The internet is great, we can find out anything!

Huh. I always kind of liked “The Freshman” though somehow I missed all the Cliched!Melodrama. I just… thought they were jerks who cheated on their girlfriends and went to work on Wall Street or something. Huh.
The abortion song I really hated was “Brick” by, I think, Ben Folds? Five? I’ve heard lots of songs by them since which I really like, but just can’t get over “she’s a brick and I’m drowning slowly…” stop whining, asshole.
