WIP Week – Wednesday

08 Aug

house1 The biggest wip I have going is the house. Since I moved in at the end of February we’ve: converted the garage apartment into a studio for Shawn, converted his old studio into my craft room, converted my old craft room into a guest bedroom, done tons of landscaping, tore down a nasty old shed in the back yard and packed up tons of trash to be hauled off, had a new drainage system put in, had the living room ceiling de-popcorned, painted the ceiling, had two new ceiling fans installed, put in tons of new doors, repainted the front porch, had the house power washed and painted, and had new siding and trim put up. That’s not counting any of the stuff Shawn did before I moved in which includes installing hardwood floors and stone tile himself among many many many other things.

house2Still on the list: replace some wiring in the attic, figure out what to do about the mold in the guest bedroom, get a new stove (one with a working oven), finish out the studio, have someone redo our gutters and attach them in to the drainage system, see if the tree with all the silk worms is savable or if it has to be removed, re-tile a portion of the roof, caulk some places on the side of the house where water may be getting in, finish the trim work in the bedroom, fix the shower pans in the studio and the master bedroom, replace some of the more banged up doors, plant a garden in the back yard, re-fence the back yard, and get a working dishwasher.

I’m sure I’m missing plenty, but you get the idea. We’ve come a long way! I wish I had more before pictures to share with you. But for more after ones click the house link for a little album.

Wow, you guys are really rehauling that place! Sounds like fun, but a lot of work. I’ve done quite a few projects myself since moving into my new house and know how it goes. The satisfaction of getting one project done is a great motivator for the rest though!

Yes, yes we are! and yes, it is both fun and work. Mostly work, then fun to look at. Pretty much only the landscaping is actually fun to do. (for me anyway…) Good luck on all your house projects!
