Actual weavers – avert your eyes

04 Feb

So I am delighted to announce that I’ve finally started warping my loom for my yellow fabric/eventual skirt. I am less delighted to announce that it’s looking to be a bit of a tangled mess thanks mostly to poor planning/sleying on my part. I have (hopefully not unfounded) faith that I’ll be able to comb it all out as I wind it on though. All 11 yards of it. Eep.

It started out strong. Nice smooth warp chains:

But I think part of the problem was laying out too much length past the heddles. (Not to mention the sleying errors.)

But it’s coming along:

Just look over here:

And not so much over here:

You can do it! It just needs lots of patience. 🙂 (Maybe sleying each group as you wound it would have helped? I don’t know, lol, that’s just how I do it, mostly because my back complains if I try to sley a whole warp all at once…) Really yummy color, can’t wait to see the skirt!

I’m sure it would have – but I wound in June and am just getting to it now 🙂 I’m not a very faithful crafter. I flit around a lot. And lately I really only have an hour here and there, not many large chunks of time. But thanks for the encouragement. It’s nice to know I’m not doomed 🙂

I know that feeling… it has happened to me a lot lately! Stick with it, I think it will be a great end result! I love that we are weaving together!
