Aha!

09 Oct

I looked at the sample page of that weaving book and noticed the word “wrap” in the description of the project I’m too impatient to wait for the book to arrive to start. While the loom is certainly easier to work with, I have to say I’m very happy with how this turned out.

Of course, here’s where the problem of pricing handmade items comes in. It took me an hour to make this, plus a couple bucks for supplies. But it’s just a magnet. How much would someone pay for a magnet? And how much is an hour of my time worth? So for now I’m just going to make a bunch for myself for fun and for gifts and not worry about that.

Also, here’s more sock progress.

Price magnets in kitchy/campy stores. Or find something similar online. I mean, well, I spent far too much on a Circque du Soliel magnet, but that’s cuz it’s Cirque du Soliel, you know? If you can make 2 or 3 an hour after making your personal ones, that would also make pricing them easier.
    The socks are looking cool!

I really like the way that sock is turning out! Another pattern for me to keep in mind that shows of variegated yarn well.

An hour of your time USED to be worth about $35 (though I’m being kind to the TV industry by granting you a 40 hour week). 🙂

I have no idea how much you should charge. I always had that problem when I tried to sell anything I made. Regardless, it turned out really cool. The socks are coming along too!
