I’ve been warping…

17 Feb

I’ve had a busy week, but I did manage to measure out my warp and start warping the loom. I’m making a set of waffle weave dish cloths. This cotton is MUCH rougher than the bamboo. Which also leads to more tangling. But so far no real problems.

What kind of cotton are you using? I love waffle weave. It’s so squishy.
I’m actually using some BamBoo for a baby blanket and will use a Summer and Winter Sheep pattern at the ends. You and I and seem to be at the same point on our projects — through the reed. Hopefully tonight I will be on the heddles and weaving. Okay, reality check. I’ll be weaving tomorrow.
    Happy weaving!

Christine – I think you’re ahead of me. I made it through the heddles, but there’s no tension yet. And probably won’t be til next weekend. I have social engagements and sewing classes all week!
    Suz – Yours look great!
    Steve – Thanks!

That looks so much… tanglier… than knitting. I’ll have to come over and watch you do this some day.

Yeah, this was a tangly one – those are all really short ends, so it wasn’t as bad as it looks. But the bamboo was much slicker. This is unmercerized cotton and it’s definitely rough and drying. Which I suppose is good for a dish towel even if my hands don’t like it. You can totally come over some time!
